FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANCHORAGE (Oct. 27) – Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball coach Rusty Osborne announced Tuesday that senior guard Brian McGill will be ineligible to compete during the fall semester.
After a standard compliance review, it was determined that McGill failed to make ‘Progress toward Degree’ over the past two semesters. NCAA rules require student-athletes to earn credits toward their majors. Currently, credits earned that go toward a ‘minor’ do not count for ‘progress toward degree.’
McGill will have the opportunity to become eligible and join the Seawolves after a compliance certification between Fall and Spring semesters.
A preseason All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference selection, McGill is the Seawolves’ leading returning scorer and playmaker, having averaged 13.8 points and 5.3 assists per game last season.
The Seawolves open the season Friday against Upper Iowa in the CCA Div. II Tip-Off Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
