Seawolves announce 2013-14 men's hoops schedule

ANCHORAGE – University of Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball head coach Rusty Osborne announced his team’s 2013-14 schedule on Tuesday.

The Seawolves – coming off an 18-9 campaign – open Nov. 4 with an exhibition game at NAIA foe Master’s (Calif.) College, followed by its regular-season openers the next week at Disney’s Division II Tip-Off Classic, Nov. 8-10. It will mark UAA’s third trip to the Anaheim event, where it will face Lindenwood (Mo.), Minnesota State and West Region foe Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The home schedule, which includes 17 games, begins Nov. 15-16 with the annual AT&T Jamboree at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. The Seawolves will host Holy Names (Calif.) and Regis (Colo.) in the Jamboree, followed by another home game Nov. 17 against Holy Names.

UAA challenges Big 12 Conference foe Texas Christian to begin the 36th annual Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout on Nov. 27, followed by a match-up with Tulsa or Indiana State on Nov. 29 and either Pepperdine, Green Bay, Denver or Harvard on Nov. 30.

The Seawolves return to the WFSC for an early Great Northwest Athletic Conference game on Dec. 7 against rival Alaska Fairbanks, and close out the 2013 calendar with two non-league games against Northland International, Dec. 16-17.

The GNAC slate resumes Jan. 2 when UAA hosts defending league champ Western Washington on Jan. 2. Other key home dates include Central Washington on Jan. 18, Seattle Pacific on Feb. 6, Montana State Billings on Feb. 8, and the ‘senior night’ finale against Western Oregon on Feb. 22.

The 4th annual GNAC Men’s Basketball Tournament returns to Lacey, Wash., Mar. 5-8. The top six teams qualify, with seeds 3-6 meeting in the quarterfinals and the top two seeds receiving byes into the semifinals.

The NCAA Division II West Regionals are set for Mar. 14-17.
