AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta State shot 58 percent in the second half Sunday

Georgia in the season opener for both teams in Christenberry
Fieldhouse.

Senior guard/forward Fred Brathwaite paced the Jaguars with 19 points
and grabbed eight rebounds. Senior forward Alex Smith, making his ASU
debut, booked 18 points and eight rebounds and senior guard Ben Madgen
notched 17 points and five boards.

Senior point guard Daniel Dixon registered the first double-double of
his career, tallying 10 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four
steals.

Vojin Svilar led the Wolves (0-1) with 18 points, draining 4-of-7
3-pointers. Jeremy Smith and Gavin Field netted 12 and 11 points each.

Madgen moved into fourth place on the Peach Belt Conference's career
scoring list with 1,687 points, overtaking Rosendo Bryden of UNC
Pembroke (1992-96) for fourth place all-time (1,672).

The victory also marked the 250th win in the 14-year career of head
coach Dip Metress, who improved to 116-43 in his ASU tenure. The
victory was the 14th consecutive home win for the Jags dating back to
last season.

opening 20 minutes. The Jags outrebounded the Wolves 44-20 and
outscored UWG 36-22 in the paint.
