UAA signs Colony's Damien Fulp

ANCHORAGE (Nov. 19) – Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball coach Rusty Osborne announced Tuesday that Colony High School standout Damien Fulp has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Seawolves next season.

A 6-1 guard, Fulp captained the Knights to the Northern Lights Conference title and a 4A State Tournament berth as a junior in 2012-13, averaging 14.4 points, 4.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. The Palmer native was named the NLC’s MVP and Second Team All-State after Colony posted a 10-0 league mark and swept the postseason tourney.

“We are very excited to add Damien to our program,” said Osborne. “We feel he is a great fit and will continue the line of tremendous local guards in our program. As he continues to mature physically and adjusts to the speed and size of the college game, we expect him to follow in the footsteps of current players like Travis Thompson and Kyle Fossman. His ability to play both positions – plus his outstanding shooting ability – fit perfectly into what we do offensively.”

Fulp also plays for the Alaska Hoops AAU squad during the summer and is an honor-roll student.

“Damien has been well coached by Tom Berg and his staff at Colony and brings a good feel for the game,” Osborne added. “In addition to being a great basketball player, he is a top-notch student and person who will represent our program well. His parents, Mary and Brendan McMahon, have done a great job preparing him for life after high school.”

Fulp is the Seawolves’ first signee for the 2014-15 season.
