Seawolf men fall short of NCAA bid

INDIANAPOLIS (Mar. 7) – The Alaska Anchorage men’s basketball team fell short in its bid for the 15th NCAA Tournament bid in program history when the NCAA announced its 64-team national field Sunday evening.

The Seawolves (17-10, 8-8 Great Northwest Athletic Conference) were on the bubble with the No. 9 regional rank, but they failed to make the eight-team West Region Championships in favor of fellow GNAC member Central Washington (16-10, 10-6), which will likely be awarded the No. 8 seed when the West bracket is finalized late Monday.

Despite the disappointment, the Seawolves completed their fifth consecutive winning season under head coach Rusty Osborne and are due to return all 10 letterwinners for the 2010-11 campaign.
