UAA's Rohde tabbed West Region all-star

SPOKANE, Wash. (Mar. 9) – Alaska Anchorage's Taylor Rohde was tabbed a second-team selection Wednesday as the 2011 Daktronics All-West Region Men's Basketball Team was unveiled.

The honor recognizes Rohde as one of the top 11 players among the 31 teams of the NCAA Division II West Region in balloting by the region's sports information directors.

A 6-9 junior center from Phoenix, Ariz. (Pinnacle HS), Rohde leads the NCAA Tournament-bound Seawolves in scoring (16.5 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg), blocked shots (0.7 bpg) and field-goal percentage (.619). He is the only player in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference to rank among the league's top eight statistically in scoring, rebounding and field-goal percentage, having scored double digits in 23 of the last 26 games. The transfer from Arizona State was a First Team All-GNAC selection and has been named to the all-tournament teams at all of UAA's non-conference events, including the Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

Rohde and the Seawolves (23-9) are the No. 6 seed for the upcoming D-II West Regional Championships in Ellensburg, Wash. UAA will face No. 3 seed and nationally 6th-ranked Humboldt State in its first-round game Friday at 11 a.m. AST.
