UAA signs L.A. JC forward Nick Pacitti

ANCHORAGE (Aug. 21) – Alaska Anchorage head coach Rusty Osborne added another versatile front-court player Friday as he announced the signing of Nick Pacitti to a National Letter of Intent.

The 6-6, 225-pound forward comes to UAA after earning All-South Coast Conference first-team honors as a sophomore last season at Los Angeles Trade Tech College, averaging 13.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. Pacitti was an honorable mention all-league pick as a freshman in 2007-08, despite it being just his first season of organized basketball.

“Nick will be one of the most skilled forward in our league, and our challenge will be to put him in the position on the court where he can help us have the most success,” said Osborne. “We are extremely excited that he has chosen our program. His versatility in playing many positions will give us a lot of flexibility. He is strong and athletic enough to play in the post, but also has great ball skills as evidenced by his assist totals.

“Nick is a late bloomer in basketball terms, and his age (24) and life experience, along with his passion, should be invaluable as we blend this group together.”

Pacitti brings UAA’s recruiting class to seven players, along with freshmen Bryce Arnott (Fr., G, 6-1, 185, Clyde, Australia) and Liam Gibcus (Fr., F/C, 6-9, Lysterfield, Australia), Division I transfer Malcolm Campbell (So., C, 6-9, 255, Los Angeles, Calif./Fairfax HS/Hartford), and fellow JC transfers Donnie Lao (Jr., G, 6-2, 190, Midvale, Utah/Hillcrest HS/Snow Coll.), Ryan Parker (Jr., F, 6-7, 230, Sacramento, Calif./Sierra College) and Drew Robinson (Jr., G., 6-1, 175, Lehi, Utah/Salt Lake CC).
